Single Ply (WeStYarn Merlin Single)

A soft single ply superwash merino (90%) and linen (10%) fingering weight yarn from mulesing-free farms. Hand dyed in the Netherlands with professional dyes. Fingering Weight: 360 m / 100 gram. Gauge (stocking stitch): 28sts x 36 rows over 10cm/4 inches on 3.25mm (US 3) needles. Recommended Needle Size: 2.5 - 4mm

A soft single ply merino and linen blend yarn with texture and a gentle tweedy haze. NYLON FREE! The natural linen gives the yarn a textured finish with subtle drape. The linen resists the dye and remains white, producing a halo of linen fibres. This yarn is ideal for spring, autumn and summer items such as cowls, shawls and lightweight tops.

Double Ply (WeStYarn Merlin 2ply)

A soft double ply superwash merino (83,3%) and linen (16,7%) fingering weight yarn from mulesing-free farms. Hand dyed in the Netherlands with professional dyes. Fingering Weight: 375 m / 100 gram. Gauge (stocking stitch): 28sts x 36 rows over 10cm/4 inches on 3.25mm (US 3) needles.
The two plies in this yarn have a medium twist so that they naturally and gently twist away from each other to give a lively, textured look to the yarn when it is knitted up. Lace stitiches really pop as the plies open up the holes in the lace. A 2 ply yarn is also crisper than a singles yarn, and the resulting fabric is more structured. Ideal if you want a little more body in your finished item. The merino wool ( 21 micron) originates from South Africa and the linen from Belgium. The natural linen gives the yarn a textured finish with subtle drape and produces a rustic, almost hand spun look when knitted up.

Dyed in an environmentally friendly manner with acid dyes, carefully washed in unscented wool wash and sent in skeins unless otherwise requested. I try to design my dye schedule in such a manner that I can re-use dye baths several times per session and lower my environmental impact.
