Collection: WeStYarn Tops

WeStYarn tops are made from the fleece of the Corriedale or the Merino sheep. Both breeds deliver fleece which is undyed quite bright with good crimp and soft handle. After dyeing the prepared tops are very bright colored.

The Corriedale wool produced is approx. 25-30 microns and staple length varies between 80-120mm ( this very long staple is easy to spin!). The Corriedale wools originate from New Zealand. This wool (non superwash) is perfect for hand spinning, hand felting and many other craft uses.

The Merino wool produced is approx. 25 microns and staple length varies between 75-80mm. This very soft superwash Merino is from South Africa (Cape) or South America depending on availability and is from non-mulesed sheep. Perfect for hand spinning, hand felting and many other craft uses. This superwashed top can not be wet felted.

Dyed in an environmentally friendly manner with acid dyes, carefully washed in unscented wool wash and sent in braids unless otherwise requested. I try to design my dye schedule in such a manner that I can re-use dye baths several times per session and lower my environmental impact.

If a colorway is sold out or you want more tops please contact me. I recommend hand wash to best preserve color.

Pricing is for one top of 100 gram (unless mentioned otherwise). Photo's of multiple tops can be displayed to show the comparison between them.
